Howie continues the series theme of inspirational after hours mixes, which all feature an exclusive cover version from the compiler themselves.Howie cut his studio chops with bands including Swing Out Sister and the Banshees, and his unorthodox style ensured that he'd subsequently work with a stellar cast of artists including Bjork, Tricky, Major Force, U2 and Ry Cooder. As a DJ, he's gone from Glasgow youth clubs to playing reggae at the Africa Centre for Soul II Soul through to U2's behemoth Pop world tour and more recently uber club Fabric. His excellent mix represents Howies unique musical heritage. Opening with the supreme funk of The Undisputed Truth the mix twists into Mos Def, French pioneers Gong, Maze's rare groover 'Twilight' and the Santana classic 'Mirage' along the way. Not to mention Howies own exclusive take on 'Under The Boardwalk', a melon-twisting distant cousin to the Drifters original. In all, a certain punk rock jerkiness mixed with the heart of a soul boy and a pure Hip-Hop mentality; unmissable.com.
